Challenge

New way of monitoring your training.

"Challenge Your self"
The goal

The goal is to motivate you and your friends to play more tennis by measuring your progress and your performance.

How do we do that

By training with a coach and by playing with your tennis friends you earn points. When you have a certain amount of points you make a test to establish your level. When the test is successfully completed, you have advanced from your own level to Swedish Tennis Academy´s next level.

Levels

Everyone starts at the Basic level. When you have earned minimum 50 points you can take a test to reach Silver level. Having earned additional 100 points, you can aspire for Gold level by passing a more difficult test. Finally, to achieve the Swedish Tennis Academy Master level you have to earn additional 200 points and pass successfully the ultimate test.

Tests

The tests will always be guided by a Swedish Academy coach with whom you book a session one week in advance. It will also be taken on a video. If you pass the test, you will be registered as a tennis player on the next level. If you fail, you can try once more at the same occasion. Having failed the second time, you remain on your level, and you have to earn new points from the beginning again.

Silver level

To pass the test to achieve Silver level you have to

  • hit the ball inside the baseline 15 times out of 20 both with your fore- and backhand.

  • You have to hit 5 serves out of 10 within the serving box

Gold level

The test to achieve Gold level is as follows:

  • A ball machine will shoot a tennis ball at a speed of 80 km/h and you have to hit the ball back inside the baseline 15 times out of 20 both on your fore- and backhand.

  • You have to hit 8 serves out of 12 within the serving box at a medium pace.

Master level

The test to achieve Master level is as follows:

  • A ball machine will shoot a ball at a speed of 100 km/h and you must hit the ball back inside the baseline 15 times out of 20 both with your fore- and backhand.

  • You must hit 10 serves out of 12 within the serving box at a medium pace

  • You must make 10 drop shots from behind the baseline out of which 8 have to land 2 m from the net.

  • You must make 10 lob shots from behind the baseline out of which 8 have to land at the minimum 2 meters inside the opponent´s baseline.

How do I earn points?

The time period during which you can earn points is a rolling 6 month period. One period could for example be 1 October to 31 March. You must yourself register date, time spent on court and with whom you have played. This timesheet must be presented to the Swedish Tennis Academy coach before you attend a test.

Points can be earned as follows:

For each full hour you

  • train with a coach you earn 5 points

  • play single with a friend you earn 3 points

  • playing double with friends gives 2 points

Fees

The test to aspire for Silver level is free of charge. It can be held in connection to your regular training session with a Swedish Tennis Academy coach. Only the normal fee for the court and the coach has to be paid. The time to perform a Gold or a Master test is estimated to 30 minutes. The fee for the Gold and Master level is 30 euros, including the coach, the ballmachine and the court.
